Day 25: Fruitfulness

The fruits of the spirit include love, patience, joy, peace, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control. All of these attributes embody Christ.  I know that I lack several of these attributes.  The two I need the most work on seem to be patience and joy. I am very impatient and get agitated very easily. As a result, I often come home in a bad mood.  My lack of joy is very evident to my husband. I can tell that this bothers him a lot. He seems to think that my unhappiness occurs when I am at home, which is not the case.

Therefore, I plan to pray that God will grant me patience for the things that are beyond my control.  I also plan to make it a point to leave my stress and anxiety at work rather than bringing it home with me.  I have always had issues with this area. However, Ryan makes it seem relatively easy.  Maybe I can get some pointers from him. Wish me luck!

What areas do you feel that you need to work on?

  1. The attributes that I need to work on the most are joy, peace, and patience. I often get caught up in this busy thing called life and fail to enjoy the people who I love the most. I fail in the area of peace because through worry and stress, I lack peace that God is going to provide. I just need to turn EVERYTHING over to Him. I have to remind myself daily that I cannot do life on my own...I need God's help. This leads me into patience. I tend to want things to happen on my terms instead of God's terms. I should know by now that God's timing is perfect timing!

  2. I did this lesson backwards, but after watching the video for today's lesson, I thought I should respond to Jennifer's question asking, "What is your greatest strength when it comes to your marriage?" Above, I mentioned my weaknesses. I would say my greatest strength is love. Although I am not perfect when it comes to the attribute of love, I tend to love hard and deep. As I've mentioned in the past, Chris and I have been through a lot in our almost eight years of marriage, but through it all, I knew that I still loved him even when it was covered up with all of the "junk" that life threw at us. I am so grateful for the example of love that God provides each of us. I want to be sure that I use His example to its fullest!

  3. Thank you ladies so much for continuing on with the blog postings and discussion. Yesterday was a terrible day for me and a long one. It ended on a good note, though. Believe it or not I actually sat down to post yesterday at lunch but that was interrupted.

Fruitfulness is our topic... Did anyone do the challenge from yesterday with your favorite fruit? I love all kinds of fruit but I chose to do the challenge with a sweet juicy orange this morning. The fruits of the Holy Spirit I paired it with (ie need work on) peace, patience, and self-control. Those are my weaknesses, especially when it comes to work and my relationship with Justin. To answer Shauna's question, I think my strengths would be kindness and generosity.

  4. Galatians 5:22-23 The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.

That scripture from Thursday's topic really stood out to me. I often struggle with patience and self-control, personally. I feel like those are two areas I need to pray to bear more fruit in. I really like the idea that God allows us to bear more fruit as long as we remain on his vine and abide in Christ. I also like the incorporation of many other topics we've covered like reverence/submission, transformation, etc.

As far as a strength goes, I'd have to say that love is probably one of my stronger fruits. I tend to love with my whole being.
